Primed Oil Sands
EN_ The LACF seed funding will assist in helping move dialogue on the Canadian oil sands beyond bigness, toward smaller scale interventions dealing with quantifiable flows of energy, mass and stakeholder demands. To accomplish this task the funding will assist with making accessible to the design community and the general public comprehensive and legible information on the specifics of the spatial and ecological transformations currently in progress in the territory of the Canadian oil sands. Once disseminated, further study and quantifiable design proposals can depart from this shared origin, and in so doing the work will advance the role of landscape architecture in participating with mitigation and rehabilitation works. Future projects facilitated by the material made freely and openly available will have tremendous potential to benefit the local ecosystems, communities and invested companies, as well the field of Landscape Architecture.
