Response to the Call for Proposals, part of the LACF | FAPC Annual Grants Program, has exceeded expectations. The LACF Grants Committee received 17 Professional and 13 Student Proposals applying for 2015 Grants. "LACF is pleased that so many talented people have taken the time to submit interesting and original proposals touching on different aspects of the profession", says Faye Langmaid, Chair of the Annual Grants Program. "I have made a cursory review of the proposals to ensure that the required information has been provided, and now the work of the Jury begins''.
A jury of carefully selected professionals from across Canada will adjudicate this year's proposals over the next six weeks. Proposals are evaluated according to pre-determined criteria including how they complement the established philosophical framework, objectives and activities of LACF. In the past, LACF has funded a wide variety of projects including habitat design guidelines, historical research and the development of communication and educational programs. The decision of the jury will be communicated to all applicants in mid to late January 2015.
"This year's high level of interest demonstrates the need to invest in an even stronger Foundation. We are optimistic that the 2014 Campaign of Fellows (COF) will generate needed funds to support this kind of important work", says LACF president Cecelia Paine.. "Your donation is your opportunity to directly support ADVANCEMENT and VISIBILITY of your profession".
The COF FUNDRAISING Campaign for 2014 began November 5th and invites donations from CSLA Fellows, members, students, LA related companies, suppliers, family and friends. Every gift, big or small is greatly appreciated and goes directly towards supporting research, communication and scholarship activities that reflect the core values of our profession of Landscape Architecture. You can help us achieve our 2014 goal of $50 000.
