CREATING A NEW COMMEMORATIVE SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS STUDYING LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE IN QUEBEC

AAPQ CELEBRATES 50 YEARS 

The AAPQ’s recent GALA event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Association des architectes paysagistes du Québec was a fabulous success on all fronts!  It also turned out to be the perfect occasion for LACF and AAPQ to announce the creation of a scholarship endowment fund commemorating the establishment of the Association and its founding members*. This new endowment fund will provide a sustainable annual scholarship to a student registered in a landscape architecture program in Quebec at the University of Montreal.

GALA guests were invited to contribute to the initiative and they did so happily by pledging over $14,250 in donations. Wendy Graham, LACF board member and Isabelle Giasson, AAPQ President made a convincing appeal about investing in the future of the profession in Quebec and marking the 50th anniversary of the AAPQ through this significant and lasting gesture. A big thank you to AAPQ members, friends and sponsors for their enthusiasm and generosity. 

LACF | AAPQ COLLABORATION

LACF and AAPQ will work together towards attaining their fundraising target of $32,000 and developing the specific scholarship criteria and requirements. AAPQ members will be kept informed of the progress in bringing this scholarship forward and are invited to participate in the process.

With your annual contribution of $100 or more, you become an LACF member with the right to vote at the next AGM for members held concurrently with the CSLA congress. All contributions are welcome no matter what the amount.  LACF will be keeping you informed of our programs and activities with our monthly eNews and will provide a 2015 tax receipt for any donation of $25 or more, made before Dec. 31. Vincent Asselin, LACF president expressed that « Although it was unfortunately impossible for me to attend the greatly anticipated AAPQ Gala this year, it was with immense pride that I received the news about the generous response to this joint initiative to create a commemorative scholarship for a student studying landscape architecture in Quebec at the University of Montreal. You can rest assured that I will contribute personally to this endeavour.  Thanks to all who generously pledged to donate and to the AAPQ Direction for their support! 

Isabelle Giasson, AAPQ president, emphasized that the announcement of this annual scholarship underlies the importance of supporting and promoting the study of Landscape Architecture in Quebec. She added, “The 50th Anniversary Gala was a meeting place of many representatives from the industry, AAPQ, AAPC, LACF, Université de Montréal and the World Summit Organisation who contributed generously to financially support a student’s learning and outreach on an annual basis.”
