EN_ To complete, translate and publish the manuscript of “Landscapes and Landscape Architecture in Canada: An Illustrated History” in both English and French. The principal objective for this book is to provide the Canadian landscape architect and interested members of related professions as well as the public with a single-volume overview of the development of the “designed landscape” in Canada. There is a great wealth of published materials covering various aspects and periods within the field, but as of yet no book recounts in an orderly fashion the full range of projects, ideas and people that animate and have created the landscape architecture of Canada. The landscape has powerfully affected Canadian life and thought; this book will explore the art and science of modifying the natural landscape to accommodate the life of human beings, from the extensive but little-known interventions of the First Nations to the complex creations of the many cultural currents that characterize today’s Canada.Grant Awarded $10,000

FR_ Compléter, traduire et faire publier le livre“ Paysages et architecture de paysage au Canada: une histoire illustrée ” en français et en anglais. En tant qu’objectif principal, ce livre vise fournir à l’architecte paysagiste canadien, aux membres des professions reliées et au grand public un survol, dans un seul volume, de l’évolution du « paysage conçu » au Canada. Il existe déjà un nombre impressionnant de documents publiés qui racontent divers aspects et périodes du sujet, mais jusqu’ici aucun livre n’essaie d’expliquer, de façon ordonnée, l’envergure globale des projets, des idées et des personnes qui animent et qui ont créé l’architecture de paysage du Canada. Le paysage a exercé une influence profonde sur la vie et la pensée au Canada ; ce livre propose d’explorer l’art et la science de modifier le paysage naturel afin d’accommoder les activités et les aspirations humaines, depuis les interventions extensives mais peu connues des Premières Nations jusqu’aux créations très diverses de la multitude de courants culturels qui caractérisent le Canada d’aujourd’hui.
