Maglin Site Furniture Donates $40,000 to Establish Eight Student Scholarships
LACF is proud to announce that Maglin Site Furniture has committed to donating $40,000 yearly for the next three years (2023-25) to fund 8 scholarships.
According to Ian McAskile from Maglin Site Furniture:
"Students are our future, and at Maglin Site Furniture, we consider it vital to help students however we can. These scholarships are a crucial means to support the next generation of landscape architects. Like LACF, Maglin believes in the power of landscapes to transform our common future."
Starting this year, a scholarship of $5,000 will be awarded to a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who demonstrates excellence in their studies, and who is studying landscape architecture in the following programs:

University of Montreal, MLA
University of Guelph, MLA
University of Guelph, BLA
University of Toronto, MLA
University of Manitoba MLA
University of Calgary MLA
University of British Columbia, MLA

Kristina Zalite Receives the Inaugural 2023 Robert N. Allsopp Urban Design Fellowship
Congratulations to Kristina Zalite on being the recipient of the inaugural Robert N. Allsopp Urban Design Fellowship for her project titled "Examining Ecological Succession and Decolonizing Approaches to Find Methods for Designing Urban Landscape Architecture Projects for Long Term Success".

Thanks to the 'Ten for Todd' fundraising campaign, we are approaching our goal and in three years have raised over $300,000 in this campaign.
We are that much closer to endowing the 2024 Frederick Gage Todd Scholarship, which is LACF's premier scholarship valued at $10,000.00 per year. It was awarded for the first time in 2021 to Kendra Scanlon, to Nicole Dulong in 2022, and to Margot Kopache in 2023.

2023 LACF Scholars Recognition Event
Submissions are now open for the LACF 2024 Research Grants Program
Design, Speculate, Postulate, Question, Research, Theorize, Explore
This year, the Research Grants Jury is calling for projects that push beyond the boundaries of everyday practice.
They are open to submissions exploring new design theories, speculations about new landscape interventions, questioning the current norms of practice, and arguing for new areas of research and professional development, as well as submissions seeking to expand the traditional areas of landscape research.
