Research Bursaries


Three distinct endowment funds have been established by individual parties in partnership with LACF to promote research in specific areas of the profession.  These funds can receive directed donations and provide funding for research to both students and practitioners.  Research bursaries are administered through the Annual Grants Program process and are awarded to projects, as determined by a jury, that meet the specific bursary criteria.   

The Günter A. Schoch Bursary
The Günter A. Schoch Bursary is awarded annually to a proposal which expands the historical record of the profession.

The Northern Research Bursary
The proposal to create a Northern Research Bursary Fund under the auspices of the Landscape Architecture Canada Foundation (LACF), has been initiated by the North West Territories Association of Landscape Architects (NWTALA) with an aim to promote interest in and advancement of research in northern Canada.

The Donald Graham Communication Bursary
The Donald Graham Bursary is awarded to communication projects that promote and advance knowledge about the core values of the profession of landscape architecture. This bursary was established in 2018 in memorium of Don Graham, longstanding practitioner, advocate of the profession of Landscape architecture and one of the founding members of LACF.
