LACF Seeded Publications

LACF is proud to have provided seed-money through the Annual Grants Program or special project funding for a growing number of important published works relating to the field of landscape architecture and it’s history in Canada. Examples include but are not limited to:

 

Ron Williams, Landscape Architecture in Canada, 2014

LACF has contributed funds through their Annual Grant Program and through a special fundraising initiative in 2010 towards the realization of this in-depth work by one of Canada’s foremost experts on the history landscape architecture in Canada, Ron Williams, FCSLA. The publication of ‘Landscape Architecture in Canada’ is published in both French and English.  The official launch was held at the CSLA Congress in Ottawa, May 2014 .

LACF Grant funding>$22 500
Special fundraising campaign for the book led by LACF successfully raised over $50 000 in 2010 thanks to the generosity of CSLA members and Fellows.

Landscape Architecture in Canada, Conversations Book tour, 2014 

LACF AND CSLA joined forces to promote Ron Williams book Landscape Architecture in Canada by supporting a cross-Canada speaking tour entitled CONVERSATIONS. The tour provided a unique opportunity to create public awareness about the role landscape architects have played in shaping the Canada we live in today.  The successful tour provided visibility for LACF, CSLA and CSLA component associations as important institutions that support the profession and the landscapes that we are charged with stewarding. 

 

James R. Taylor, Handbook of Professional Practice in Canada, 2010 

The Handbook of Professional Practice in Canada by James R. Taylor, FCSLA, FASLA, Professor Emeritus, University of Guelph received LACF funding in 2006. The second edition of the book was published in 2010.

This informative book is a must for: 

  • Students in landscape architecture
  • Candidates for the LARE
  • Landscape architects in practice.

Lynda M. LeGeyt, Changing the Face of Canada, Profiles of Landscape Architects

This Oral history project chronicles 25 in-depth interviews of prominent Landscape Architects across Canada in two volumes.  Lynda M.
